What are the Member Institutions about?
- Member institutions are visited by millions of members of the general public each year.
- IWCEC accreditation program ensures that member facilities maintain the highest husbandry standards while following an ethical code of conduct and safety. Animals are maintained only by highly responsible, licensed and qualified facilities.
- IWCEC mentors and financially supports emerging conservation and zoological facilities.
- In conjunction with the SST (Species Survival Trust) and the genetics labs of Texas A&M University, IWCEC represents the single largest captive population of registered and DNA tested tigers, along with hundreds of other felines of varying species.
- Member institutions are rehabilitating both indigenous and exotic eagle species.
- Member institutions conduct elephant research, rescues and education.
